My One Little Word for 2012

Happy Tuesday! Hope everyone had an amazing Christmas! Now that I finally finished the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping I can sit down and focus on my plans for next year. One of the things I've been thinking about is my OWL for 2012 (if you're not familiar with One Little Word please go and check out Ali Edwards' blog), and reflecting on my 2011 OWL, which was Push! Push was in reference to pushing myself to accomplish goals in terms of creativity, health, education, and so many other things in my life that I may have become a little (or a lot) lax on taking care of or excelling. I pushed myself creatively and tried some new things and applied for a handful of design teams which I'm over the top excited that I was accepted on half of the teams I applied for, so I'm thinking that I need to continue to PUSH! So I'm sticking with my 2011 OWL but with parentheses (harder).

So here is a layout I made using primarily Scrapbook Circle's Fresh Picked kit to document my OWL for a challenge on the Scrapbook Circle blog to document your OWL or resolutions. I used a sketch 262 from Pencil Lines.  I also used some stickers and paper from my Crate Paper and October Afternoon stash, Jenni Bowlin ticket stamp (love it) from the December kit, Prima Ink, and Mister Huey mist.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great week and in case I don't blog for the next few days...Happy New Year!!!

Don't Forget to tell Santa and his helpers "Thank You" Docerela Challenge

Happy Holidays ! We are just days away from the big day that we have been waiting for all year! Christmas Day! So, in advance I'd like to wish everyone a A Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I'm sure we have all been busy with the Holiday hustle and bustle and getting all the last minute details complete. When the wrapping paper has been picked up, the dinner dishes put away, and the children are settled down with all their new loot, don't forget to give thanks. And sending out thank you cards can be a very simple yet heartfelt way to let your friends and family know that you appreciate them this season and all year long! If things go as planned I hope to work on some thank you cards on Cjmkkjstmas Eve while watching the marathon of "A Christmas Story" (love that movie...makes me smile just thinking about it)!

Well, the current challenge at Docerela Creations has helped me get a jump start on making my holiday thank you cards! The new challenge is to create a holiday thank you card.
For my card I used a Gartner Studio card, Docerela Stamps: Mix & Match II, and October Afternoon (paper, button, and sticker), Jenni Bowlin ink, and Tim Holtz embossing powder. A very simple and quick thank you card, but the sentiment let's my recepient know that I really appreciate them!

I hope you will pop on over and visit the rest of the design team and join in our challenge over at Docerela Creations! And be entered to win a set of her stamps!

Are you Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree....link it up...

Stopping in to let you know that Docerla Creations is having a Christmas tree link up party!!! And, if you link up your Christamas tree, you will have a chance to win a set of very cute stamps! We know everyone puts their trees up at different times, so no worries if you don't have yours up yet because the link up is open until December 31!

Well, in spirit I love decorating and Christmas cutenss, but in reality I'm a last minute, minimal Christmas decorator who is quick to take it all down because I can't stand the clutter! ( I wish I were like this awesome lady- Kiesha Campbell- she is a holiday decorating superstar in my eyes! Drool!) But, in all honesty, family and friends have to threaten me each year to go ahead and put up my tree....ha! And actually, my youngest son usually gets the Christmas tree party started when he gets worried that Santa won't visit if we don't have our tree up, although he claims he doesn't believe in Santa anymore. But, I think there's still a little glimmer of believing in the guy in the big red suit in his sweet little nine year old heart! Anyway, to my surprise, my oldest son decided that he wanted to put the tree up today...WHAT? And of course with that he wants to go out and spend money on decorations, lights, and even asked if we could go out and get a white tree. The answer to all were Ummm... NO! So, into the garage I went to drag in the bins for him to start decorating!  So, here he is getting it set up and yelling at me that I don't have consent to photograph him or the tree! Ha, well guess what buddy....hahah!
Oh, and look at this treasure that I found while sifting through bins in the garage!

It's my 'My Child'!!! Oh, my goodness I loved this doll as much as I loved my Cabbage Patch Kids which are tucked away in bins in my mom's garage! Blast from the past--- 1985! Anyway, she is so cute, but my son says I need to put her back in the garage; called her Chuckie! Nope, stripped her down to wash her little clothes which hopefully will come clean, and I'm gonna comb her hair and put her on display!  Anyway just thought I'd share a happy little December Daily random info!

Ok, so don't forget to hop over to Docerela Creations and link up your Christmas tree! And, remember once you link up you are in the drawing to win a set of stamps, too! Spread the word so we can have tons of trees to see!

Docerela Creations Blog Hop and Black Friday Sale!!!

Docerela Creations is hosting another challenge!

Today's challenge is to create a 3-D project with a Christmas theme!
Just in time for the Holidays!

Supplies: Stamps: Docerela Creations -Home for Christmas; Patterned Paper: Crate Paper, Jenni Bowlin; Chipboard: Crate Paper; Tags: Elle's Studio, Studio Calico; Stickers: Cosmo Cricket; Ink, Embossing Powder: American Crafts, Jenni Bowlin, Recollections, Tsukineko; SnowTex; Frame: Target

I made this little frame/shadow box for the challenge. The Home for the Holidays stamp set is so perfect for creating a little Christmas scene such as this one! To make this snowy scene I started with a simple little frame that I picked up on clearance at Target dollar isle for about 33cents (and it was a 3 pack)! Love sales!

Instead of using the front of the frame I used the back to create a little shadow box. To add dimension and layers I cut a piece of patterned paper for the background, spritzed it with Mister Huey. The saying "days till Christmas" is adheared to the patterned paper and then the layer of plastic is placed over to create the dry erase surface for writing the countdown numbers.

Next, I used my favorite seasonal texture maker- SnowTex to create the snow! I fussy cut the brown tree from a piece of patterned paper and placed it in the snow. To add another layer I hot glued the little chipboard snowman to the lip of the frame. And his little banner is made from a q-tip that I cut in half and from an Elle's Studio banner that I cut in half and stamped.

The chipboard tree is attached to the lip of the frame as well. I cut an oval piece of chipboard and hot glued it to the underside of the frame beneath the tree. Then covered it in SnowTex. I had my co-worker help me to make these tiny little boxes (because I'm to impatient to fold those little things -LOL!) and then stamped one of them - can you believe how perfectly the sentiment fits on the little gift box? LoveIt! And I used the other half of the banner q-tip to make a little 'no peeking' sign to place by the presents! Oh, and the top banner was created by stamping and embossing the sentiment directly onto the ribbon. A few little details here and there and little Christmas snow scene is easily created!

I hope you will pop on over and visit the rest of the design team and join in our challenge over at Docerela Creations! And be entered to win a set of her stamps!

**Black Friday Alert**

Today only the Home for Christmas set can be yours for only $10.00!
Whoot Whoot! Imagine this set in your Christmas stocking!!
Check out all the details at Docerela Creations!

Thank you so much for stopping by and I can't wait to see what you create for the challenge!

It's Challenge Time!

Today is such an exciting day, it is the first day I am creating a project for Docerela Creations!
We are having our first challenge today with the new Design Team! I hope you will pop on over and visit the design team and join in our challenge over at Docerela Creations! And be entered to win a set of her stamps!

Today's challenge is to create a Fall colors/theme/Thanksgiving using Cricut Cut or real leaves!

For this fun challenge I decided to make a wall hanging to give to my mom for Thanksgiving.

I Mod Podged real leaves from my yard. The Mix and Match stamp set is perfect for this because the "Happy Thanksgiving" stamp is the exact sentiment I needed!

The "To/From" is great because I just stamped it right onto a tag and added it to my work. Another thing I love about the Mix and Match stamp set is that it is truly mixable and matchable because I stamped words from two different phrases to create the "for my Mother's" love and if flows perfectly! I love the versatility of this set! The sentiments and words that are included can be used in so many combinations.

Supplies: Real leaves coated with Mod Podge; Stamps: Docerela Stamps Mix and Match II- You are in my Thoughts; Ink, Embossing Powder: American Crafts, Jenni Bowlin, Tim Holtz; Patterned Paper, Stickers: Crate Paper; Chipboard: Crate Paper, Maya Road; Flower: Maya Road; Ribbon: May Arts; Die Cut: Sizzix; Wood Base: My Monster Creations

Docerela Stamps Mix and Match II - You are in my Thoughts

Come check out The Design Team for some great inspiration:

Nitasha (you are here!)
Tracie (Guest Designer)

Thank you so much for stopping by. If you're hopping in order then next you should go see what cuteness Tracie has cooked up for you and don't forget to play along with the challenge! I can't wait to see what you create!

More Cards...

So, as I mentioned the other day I'm on a card making mission and in search of great card sketches. Well, last night I found a great site called Card Patterns and I used the current sketch #140 to make these cards. I used primarily October Afternoon 5 & Dime. And a Hero Arts typewriter stamp that I have hoarded for months! I love it and will be using it quite often now that I've taken it out of the package! Ok, well I'm off to make my self imposed quota of two more cards for the day!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Don't forget to stop by the Scraps of Color E:spire blog to enter my Studio Calico giveaway!

Cards, cards, cards....

So this weekend I'd planned on having a card making extravaganza!!!! Ok, maybe that's a little dramatic (but that's just me), but I really do need to pump out a ton of cards for soldiers and for the elderly, so what's the easiest way to get my card making mojo flowing....

Yes, a little trip to Hobby Lobby....

Followed by some card sketches!!!!
I found a great sketch at CPS-Card Sketches for their sketch challenge this week and used it to make an all occasion card. I love that sketches make things so much faster! Anyway I used Cosmo Cricket's Circa 1934 to make this little card! Well, my card making "party" will continue throughout the week and weekend because as always life gets in the way of my crafty time, so I didn't even make a dent in the amount of cards that I need to crank out!
Oh and I found Another great sketch at Twisted Sketches today!!!! Go check it out! I created a little card just minutes ago using my neglected stash of DCWV (Generation Tech Stack)! I remember the days when I was addicted to buying stacks! wow! Ok, so anyway, here's the little card I created and the twist was to use buttons, so I used buttons as a knob on the radio and as a record on the player...

Thanks for stopping by! Have a beautiful week!
***Oh and don't forget about the Studio Calico giveway I'm hosting on SOC E:spire. Be sure to hop on over there to enter***

I {heart} happy meals...

Yep, it's true I love me a good little cheeseburger happy meal especially when the toy is something that I like...like a reminder of the 80s...Smurfs!!! Yep, I think I ate a happy meal at least twice a week in the summer when the toy was a Smurf figurine! Heeehee....And even worse, before that when the toy was a Hello Kitty watch I even stooped so low as to make my co-workers eat Happy Meals for lunch on some days and "strongly suggested" that they give me the watch if it was one that I did not have yet! Ha! Yep, I'm bratty like that, but anyway I made this 'ode to Happy Meals' layout just for fun and to relax a bit tonight. I'm so proud of myself because I used the little fry box within 3 days of getting it as opposed to my usual habit of saving little bits and pieces of things that I 'plan' to use eventually. : )

I used the current sketch posted at  Sketchy Thursdays. This one is going into my album of fav sketches because it's so easy to pull together and I want to try it with pennants, too. This is also a layout for the current challenge (18) at Scrapbook Circle, which is to stitch on a layout. Every since I've seen the Amy Tan tags where she stitched on a tag I have wanted to give it a try, so...I did because I was prompted by the challenge! It's obviously my first attempt, but I'm happy with it and in case you can't read it...the stitched word is 'meal'. I will definitely try this technique again, soon! I used bits and pieces from the Scrapbook Circle April kit - Hello Sunshine and also pieces of a Studio Calico grab bag from last month. Well, this is going to be a fantastically busy, scrappy month so I'm off to get a little sleep! Thanks so much for stopping by!

FEELS LIKE AUTUMN....

Well, not exactly here in Texas, but I'm so in the mood for Autumn. I meant to post this little card that I made last week, but somehow overlooked it. I made it for the Fall Challenge at Docerela Creations. The challenge calls for using Fall colors on a recent or new layout or card. I used one of my favorite lines- Crate Paper's Farmhouse! Well, there's still time to play along with the challenge if you're interested go check it out!

Supplies: Patterned Paper, Stickers: Crate Paper; Chipboard (leaves): Maya Road; Stamps: Studio Calico; Ink and Embossing Powder: Tim Holtz; Ribbon and Raffia: Hobby Lobby

Scrapbook Circle Challenge 17 & Sketchy Thursdays 10.13

Combined two journaling challenges this week- one from Scrapbook Circle and another from the sketch at Sketchy Thursdays! My little niece is just such a sweet little girl that I had to use Scrapbook Circle's August kit- You Are My Sunshine to make this layout about her because the colors and patterns in the kit were perfect for this photo of her. My printer is acting a little wacky, so the colors in the photo are a way off and not exactly the look I was going for but it works!

Anyway, I journaled about how much I love this little kiddo and a quick little story about the ribbons in her hair and the wristband she's wearing. She wanted a little tutu from the Dollar Tree which I told her was way too small for her, but she insisted that it would fit. Since it was just a dollar I got it anyway and of course 5 minutes after wearing it....it split! So I cut it into pieces and made a some flowers to embellish her 'Dollar Tree' headbands, tied some of the fabric to the ends of her braids and used the left over piece to tie a wristband- talk about fashion design on a dime!  It's a good thing that this little girl does not belong to me because we would be some crazy dollar store craftin' nuts every weekend! Anyway, like I said the majority of the layout is made with my August Scrapbook Circle kit but I also added a few things like the 'you are here'/ arrow stamp and the stamp around the journaling block are Studio Calico as well as the buttons,  a heart doilie from my stash, and Thickers. Well, that's it for today! Oh, yeah and if you're interested....my Random Crate Paper giveaway a couple of posts below is still open until Wednesday morning! Ok, thanks so much for stopping by...have a great week!

Live in the Moment...

I made this 'live in the moment' tag based on a challenge on Tina's blog! Click over to her site to see the cool Pacsun shopping bag that she posted as the inspiration piece! Well, I was inspired by the black and white and the diagnal line flowing from the top to bottom of the bag! So I created a line of various MAMBI floral stamps and well let's just say my stamping did not come out the way I envisioned it so I placed a heart doilie over the center of the 'oops' area! I was also inspired by the picture because some things seemed like paint dripping from the picture which I interpreted as my true love- Mister Huey (Applejack). I also added a couple of punched butterflies to symbolize the life amidst the chaos and to really live in the moment because life is short and so we have to spread our wings, fly, and let our light shine...'cause baby you're a firework! Come on let your colors burst!!!' Oh, sorry I look for any excuse to burst into song- especially that one....Anyway just a quick little tag that I'm going to keep on my desk as a reminder! Thanks for stopping by!

A Random Giveaway....

I've been wanting to do a giveaway for quite some time and I'm collecting a box of goodies to giveaway, but I'm relatively new to blogging, so I don't have hundreds of followers breaking down my door for giveaways (LOL), so I thought I'd start off small and see who's interested and if you all like what you see than I have plenty more to share! Ok, so on to the meat and potatoes...
Well, October 6 is my blog post day at Scraps of Color E:spire and I asked the readers to take a another look through the great issue that was released last month and find something that inspires them or take note of something that they may have missed during their first look at this awesome E-zine! And, I want to invite you to do the same and as a "thank you" for taking the time to read it and comment you can have a chance at my Random Giveaway....Yes, I mean the actual Crate Paper Random 6x6 pad and the 12x12 Chipboard sheet (although, to save on shipping I will punch them all out and bag them up. Don't judge because I'm frugal- aka cheap- LOL! when it comes to cutting corners on shipping costs) Oh, and while I'm on the subject of shipping, I can only ship to US addresses. Random info: I love this line, but I love all things Crate Paper!
I'm not a complicated person, so to enter the giveaway is really simple. I'm hoping that if you've come across my humble little blog that you like it and wouldn't mind following me. Easy peasy, right? I also like multiple chances for things too, so.....

*Follow my blog (I'm new at this so I'm hoping to make it a prettier place to visit in the near future). I'm not a blabber mouth, so I promise not to clog up your reader with a too many random rambling posts! LOL!

**For an additional entry download (hopefully, you have already) the latest issue of Scraps of Color E:spire, read it, and then come back and tell me a bit about one of your favorite features, articles, or projects. Still easy peasy, right? (Click the link in my sidebar to download it).

***For an additional 4 entries( Yes, I said Four) create a NEW project inspired by something from the latest issue of Scraps of Color E:spire, blog about it, and come back and leave a link to your post, so I can be inspired by you! Again, Easy Peasy!

And, just to give you enough time to create something I will leave this giveaway open for a couple of weeks, so let's say until October 19 at 11:59pm Central Time!
So, essentially you have the chance to put your name in the hat 6 times!!!!! And, if we can get several people involved I will do another, much larger, giveaway next month too! I want to spread the word about SOC and get everyone reading and sharing the word about it, too! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Paper Smooches...Hey Chickie

Paper Smooches makes some super cute stamps so I couldn't resist playing along with their current Spark Challenge, which is to create a project inspired by this picture:

Love the colors of the inspiration piece and knew immediately I wanted to use one of my favorite techniques of scrunching tissue paper to create a background. I kept it very clean and simple because the inspiration piece isn't very busy either. Also knew that the New Crate Paper was a must on this card too. Love the green chevron paper!

Supplies Stamps: Paper Smooches; Patterend Paper: Crate Paper; Twine: The Twinery; Embossing Powder: Recollections; Mist and Ink: Mister Huey, Jenni Bowlin; Tissue Paper

Hopefully, you will have a chance to play along before it closes tonight, but if not...I'm pretty sure there will be more challenges in the future...at least I hope so! : )

World Card Making Day...Umm more like Weekend!

So, I was stoked about the idea of spending all day crafting and making cards while my guys were at a football game for several hours on Saturday, but as  usual my plans were derailed! I had to babysit my little 5yoa niece and she's not the type that sits and plays alone quietly! Don't get me wrong, she's a sweetheart, but needs a lot of attention- so instead of playing with my scrappy stuff I was playing with her at the park and whatnot ALL day! But alas, she finally went to bed around 8:30 and I started celebrating...umm WCMD that is! So here's what I managed to complete on Saturday and into the wee morning hours of today...a couple of cards that I made for the Pink Paislee WCMD challenges! There is still time to play along just hop over to the Pink Paislee forum and take a look at all 7 of the cool challenges. If things go well, I will update this post with more pics that I complete for the challenges later today, but for now I must close my tired eyes and get some rest...I've got a lot of scrapping and cardmaking to do later...

Pure in Heart with Paper Tree House and a Sketchy Thursdays 9.29

I have hopped along to several blogs in my time, but the faith blog hop that I just hopped along with at Paper Tree House has surely been the most spiritually inspiring one that I've ever experienced! I received some strong reminders of what God wants from us. The hop and the ladies who hosted it made me think about my everyday life and the amazing qualities that I see in my kiddos and what I need to focus on as well. For this layout I chose to focus on the attribute "Pure in Heart" because that is just what I see in my youngest son. He comes off, like his mother, as a very mellow, laid back person, but his heart is so big and so pure that sometimes I think I just may burst with joy. (Now of course sometimes he can be a little nervewrecking, like any other 9 year old but for the most part he is a sweetheart). So, a few weeks ago my son was reading about the effects of tobacco in his science book and he wanted to text the page to his uncle, who smokes, so he could see what smoking is doing to his lungs. Well, yesterday he remembered that he wanted to send the text and  he did. Of course, his uncle calls as soon as he gets the picture text of these lungs and thinks I'm the one who sent it! I let my son talk to him because he was composing a text explaining what the picture was but Uncle called before he finished. Uncle was touched, and told him to go ahead and send him the text message too and that he would give up smoking tomorrow! Of course my kids have heard this a million times, but I'm just touched that my son's heart is so big and so pure that he wants to change the behavior of a man that has been smoking for years!  I won't ramble on about how much I love this kiddo...but I'm telling you he just makes my heart smile!
(sorry the pic is kinda small, but hopefully if you click it will get bigger)
For this layout I used the current Sketchy Thursdays 9.29 sketch, Scrapbook Circle's August 'You are My Sunshine' kit, and some new Crate Paper that I received a couple of weeks ago- (LOVE) ...Oh, and I think I may be sharing some of my Crate Paper goodies next week if you want to come back and visit me...AKA...GIVEAWAY! Well, thanks for visiting Oh, and duh..I forgot....Happy World Card Making Day!!!

A little birthday tag for Artful Delight

Challenge #2 at Artful Delight is to create a project based on Tic Tac Toe..

I decided to go with a slanted line for my tic tac toe win-- use kraft, include at least one button, and light pink! I made a birthday tag for my coworker using the Tim Holtz Sizzix die with Recollections Kraft paper, stamped with The Girl's Paperie stamp set added a little blign to the banner, some Maya Road embellies (Light Pink gingham flower with a Button and a trinket pin). I added a little strip of Tim Holtz tissue tape and misted with Calico White Mister Huey and added a few drops of Cotton Candy Metallic Maya Mist. Oh and the dress form was cut with Tim Holtz die too! Easy Peasy! Happy to have completed all of the challenges for Artful Delight blog hop challenge!

Oh, and just FYI  I plan to have a giveaway next week, so if you just stopped by please come back again next week too....I'm thinking there might be some Crate Paper given away...I'm just sayin'.....heehee...have a great weekend!

Giggle...A sweet little card with Delightful Inspiration

I am rockin' along with my 90 day plan to exercise and eat better. Of course, this is only day 3, but hey...for a girl like me this is awesome! LOL! I think I may include 90 days of scrapping too, because I'm actually settling into a routine (well 2 days) of eating dinner early, exercising, and scrapping, and then going to bed at least an hour earlier than my usual late night nonsense!
Well, anyway, I made this little card for Artful Delight's Blog Hop Celebration Day 3 Color Challenge- kraft, pink, and white

I used my favorite Jenni Bowlin butterfly stamp and chipboard butterfly with Party Pink Recollections embossing powder. I also used chipboard pieces from Bella Blvd and Me & My Big Ideas. The little scrap of paper is Crate Paper and a doilie from my stash. Oh, the card is just a piece of kraft that I misted with calico white Mister Huey and inked the edges. Ok, so I'm feeling good and will hopefully start and complete challenge #2 tonight too!

A Spooky Little Layout with Artful Delight

So, I had major plans to get an epic amount of scrapping done and participate in challenges last weekend. Well, let's just say that plan was an Epic Fail!!! Anyway, I did do a lot of blog hopping and found some fun sites. One of them is Artful Delight! They hosted a very inspiring three day blog hop and have three challenges that are still open until the 30th, so if you have some free time this week check them out and play along!

This spooky little layout is for Challenge #1 - sketch challenge. I have been in a very fall/halloweenish mood and was happy to scrap this picture of my little goblin that has been sitting on my desk for a few weeks since I found it during my scrap space clean up (which is still in progress). I used a variety of items for this layout some old and some new.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned Paper: Basic Grey- Max and Whiskers, Echo Park- Apothecary, Tim Holtz-Halloween Haunts; Stickers and Rubons: Echo Park, Making Memories,Sassafrass; Mist and Twine: Studio Calico

Ok, I have a few more things I want to accomplish before Friday....let's see if I can do a LOAD this week or at least a couple of cards and tags! Hopefully, I'll be back with another challenge post tomorrow!

scrap the scraps...

Last minute posting and uploading this week...first week of school/end of summer adjustments! I played along with Big Picture Classes' Big Idea Festival and used my scraps to participate with Amy Heller's Scrap Your Scraps Challenge, too. I used the Tim Holtz tag die to make tags and some other little elements. And used random pieces of chipboard and stickers from my stash, too. I kept them very simple and clean because the focus is on the words and what they mean to me, even though I feel like I kinda kepts writing the same definition for some words- oh well- I'm a simple girl! The tags are simple and I'm glad I had a fun time playing with my scraps and participating in The Big Idea Festival.

Stampin' Dymonz Tag on Tag Challenge...

A few months ago I found cool blog and I played along with Stampin'Dymonz's Tim Times Ten tag challenge. I had a blast learning and trying new techniques on tags. Well, this week they are having another tag challenge, so I just had to play along! Here are the details directly from Stampin' Dymonz blog:

This week's challenge is a tag challenge...with a twist. We will be using inspiration from the PageMaps website (www.pagemaps.com) and utilizing the following Tag Map, which can be found there:

As you can see by this sketch, this tag appears to have a "folder" on the front of the tag with a piece of paper which is inside the folder on a skewed angle. This week's challenge will have you put your spin on this sketch, including the following elements -- your tag must have a functional folder on the front and the piece of paper inside of the folder must be in the shape of a tag. There should be space on the tag for a small photo and some journaling. This space can be on the inside and/or the outside of the folder and/or the inserted tag.

Here is what I created for the challenge:
I started off with the idea that I would make the tag for my son to use as a bookmark, but then as I was crafting it during the wee wee wee hours of this morning, my son informed me that he wanted a baseball themed bookmark, so from there I just took off in an entirely different direction! So I started off with the Alterations tag die to cut a piece of Tim Holtz paper. Then I backed it with some think chipboard to make it more sturdy. I used the Alterations file tab die as the starting point for making my file folder and then used random pieces from the Tim Holtz paper pad to embellish the tag. I used Cosmo Cricket tiny type alphas to label the file folder and inked a plain white tag to create the inside tag that has the journaling and picture. On the other side I wanted a place to keep track of books so I created a mini notebook with an Elle's Studio tag folded over pieces of paper and hot glued. After adding so many layers this tag is very chunky and may not be the best book mark, but I at least I can still sit it out for display and/or use the little notebook inside to keep track of the books I read. Thanks for taking the time to stop by! Have a great Sunday Afternoon and a wonderful week!

Shimelle's Hot Pink Hoopla Challenge...

I was inspired by Shimelle's hot pink hoopla challenge to use a sheet of pink notebook style paper along with some Crate Paper and Cosmo Cricket to create this layout about my cousin and I.

Shimelle's Stickery Challenge and A Card for Olivia...

So, this weekend I'm continuing to play along with Shimelle's weekend challenges from last weekend. I was inspired to make this little card for the Stickery challenge (which was to use more than two stickers from different companies/lines on a project) after reading about a sweet little girl who is undergoing some pretty serious medical problems. The little girl, Olivia, could use a lot of cheering up and you can go to Dayis Scraproom to learn more about how you can send a card to this little cutie too! One of my favorite things about scrapbooking and crafting is that we can brighten someone's day by simply sharing what we love to do! I'm mailing this card first thing Monday morning and I hope that little Olivia will enjoy it! If you have a few extra minutes in your day, please consider making a card and sending it! Have a beautiful rest of the weekend!

Supplies: Patterned Paper: Crate Paper-Emma's Shoppe; Stickers: Crate Paper- Emma's Shoppe, Sassafrass- Sweet Treats, Monstrosity, Cosmo Cricket: tiny type; Chipboard: Crate Paper, Jenni Bowlin, The Girls Paperie; Twine: The Twinery- Pink Sorbet; Ribbon: The Ribbon Boutique; Button, Bling and Doilie from my stash.

Shimelle's Printable Challenge....

This is one of my favorite cards that I've made during Shimelle's scrapbook weekend event! She provided different sets of printables and I chose to print the journaling tags on kraft cardstock and used this one for a back-to-school card for my son.

Supplies: Patterned Paper: Crate Paper- Toy Box; Printable: (journal box) Shimelle.com; Alphas: American Crafts Thickers, Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type, The Girls Paperie; Rub Ons: 7Gypsies; Burlap: Canvas Corp; Twine: The Twinery.

Shimelle's Signature Accent Challenge

Yay, even though it is hours past my bedtime (I'll regret staying up this late when I'm at work tomorrow- or rather today ; )....but anyway , I did not complete my goal of making two projects today, but I did complete an Anniversary card for my hubster for Shimelle's Signature Accent Challenge! My signature accents are: Crate Paper (love, love, love me some CP), American Crafts Thickers, tiny alphas (these are The Girls Paperie, but I also love the Cosmo Cricket tiny type alphas), Chipboard- love chipboard pieces and even love creating my own from stickers and patterned paper, but these happen to be Crate Paper, and I love, love, love my Jenni Bowlin butterfly stamp!!! In addition to the stamp I love the (new-to me) technique of heat embossing! I have been an embossing crazy woman for the past couple of weeks! And...nearly every project I complete must have inked edges or it just feels naked! So, the things I just listed show up repeatedly on my layouts and cards- they are my signature accent!

Shimelle's 3 is a Magic Number Challenge...

I created this little hello card based on Shimelle's 3 is a Magic Number Challenge. My sets are three are quite obvious- butterflies and buttons- two of my favorite embellies! I used my favorite Jenni Bowlin butterfly stamp, an American Crafts butterfly stamp, Crate Paper PP, Studio Calico fabrip, Cosmo Cricket tiny type alphas, and some buttons from my stash.

Shimelle's Starting Point Challenge...

As I mentioned in my previous post I have been playing, scrapping, and having a grand time since last Friday with Shimelle's "On-line Scrapbooking Weekend"! This is my layout for the 'Starting Point Challenge'. I primarily used the July kit from Scrapbook Circle and a few things from my stash to make this layout about my Sunshine of a son!

Shimelle's Bingo Card and Butterfly...

Well, this past weekend I participated in Shimelle's 'on-line scrapbooking weekend' and started working on a lot of fun layouts and cards. I say "started" because the class is all this week too and I have several projects in mind that I would like to finish before the deadline next Sunday! So here's my entry for today which is inspired by Shimelle's layout. I was inspired to take out some of my Jenni Bowlin products (patterned paper and bingo card) which I usually hoard and to also play a little bit with my JB paint dabbers, inks and butterfly stamp (which are three of my favorite things right now- especially the butterfly stamp)! Ok, let's see if I can crank out at least one more card before I call it lights out....

Scrappin' My Scraps....

Still playing along with Amy Heller's 'scrap your scraps' challenge! I pulled out my scraps stash bag and made this wacky layout! I also played around with embossing, which I'm a novice at (obviously---one of my images did not come out at all- but I decided to embrace it and leave it there)! I think I got a little crazy with all the random bits and pieces, but it was still a fun LO to make especially since it's such a silly picture of Bella! Well, it's late and hopefully I will get some more scrap scrappin' completed tomorrow!
