12 Tags of 2012

Yes, I'm a Timster (a name I just made up for folks who LOVE Tim Holtz- LOL) even though you probably can't tell based on my scrapbook style which is kinda of all over the place. But never the less, I do love me some Tim Holtz! He is just amazing! So I was super excited when he announced the 12 Tags of 2012 because I can never seem to keep up with the 12 Tags of Christmas!  I rushed right out last week and luckily picked up the honeycomb paper that he used on his tag. Unfortunately, I could not get my hot little hands on the Valentine die and embossing folder so I improvised with his Bingo folder! I wish Tim/Sizzix would make the embossing folders longer to fit an entire tag from his Tag die set!!!! Hmm...perhaps I will email that suggestion- LOL!  Anywhoo...I went to a very fun crop today and met some ladies that are super sweet, generous, and crafty so of course there was more socializing than crafting, but thankfully I finished my tag and a card (all within 6 hours)!!!! Haha!
Anyway, here is my tag:

And, this is the card I made based on this weeks CPS sketch. I think I'm too late to enter the challenge, but hey...one more card down. I really need to build my card stash so I can just grab and go when I need one. I  wanted to kick myself for not having a wedding one ready for a bridal shower I went to this week...ugg paying $5 for a card at the store that I could have myself just chaps my hide!

Carri's Birthday Blog Hop!!!!

Hello and welcome to Carri's Birthday Blog Hop! If you just happened to be visiting today you may want to start at the beginning at  Georgiana blog! But if you are on track then let's get this party started!!!! First off, I want to say:

  "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CARRI!!!!!"

I am so excited about the hop and sharing some birthday project fun with you all! I decided to make a little birthday mini book to celebrate! I love the saying "live, love, laugh" and to me it encompasses three of the main elements of being happy! And birthdays are a perfect reminder to live longer, love harder, and laugh more often! If the sticker pack I used for the tabs would have had a phrase "eat cupcakes" I definitely would have included that, too! Ha! Anyway,  I made it using a Maya Road mini book, Scrapbook Circle's "The Good Life" kit (September 2011), and several other items from my stash!

I have made more Valentine's cards this year than I have ever made and it feels great to be able to spread a little love via a handmade card! I was totally inspired by the stamps to create the title of my page which also happens to be a song that I like. I've been really inspired by songs lately! VALENTINE CARDS FOR KIDS & CPS SKETCHES

***Ooops, I had the best intentions of finishing these cards by Friday and had even planned ahead and pre-wrote my post, obviously it is Monday night bordering on Tuesday now....Life gets in the way of my scrapping sometimes- LOL***

Hello and Happy Friday to ya! I love it when things just naturally fall into place! Let me explain...Well, I stumbled upon the Faith Abigail Designs' Cards for Kids Valentine's Day blog hop last week and knew that  I was going to participate by making some cards and sending them to Faith Abigail who is going to distribute them to children who are in the hospital! Such an amazing cause and you should really hop on over and look at the gorgeous cards that these ladies made---AWESOME! So, I set a personal goal to make at least 10 cards, but my mojo was low on ideas...BUT...then I hopped on over to the  CPS- Card Sketches blog for some sketchy inspiration and guess what? They are celebrating their 5th anniversary with a party of a sketch a day! Woot Woot! Today is day 5 so that means I will make 2 cards each for each sketch; one for a boy and 1 for a girl...making me reach my goal of 10 cards! There is still plenty of time to play along with both of these blogs, so I encourage you to visit them!
*** Unless I get a crazy burst of energy in the morning I did not meet my 10 card goal, but I'm happy that I made it to 8!***

Today's challenge is a Valentine's Day layout!

For my layout I decided to dig out a high school prom photo of my hubby and I because I have been wanting to create a page inspired by Martina McBride's song "Still the One"! Oh I just love that song! Well, not to get all lovey doevy on you right now, but it just fits so well because my hubby and I have been together since I was a senior in high school. It wasn't until I made this layout that I really thought about it; we've been together 16 YEARS!!! OMG, that's like half my life!

Anyway, the new Docerela "Loveable" stamp set was absolutely perfect for capturing the sentiments and thoughts that I wanted to convey on this layout. When I first received this gorgeous MME glitter paper in a kit I had no idea how I was going to use it, but when we were presented with this awesome Valentine layout challenge I knew that I wanted to use it. Sure, it's not your traditional Valentine colors, but I think the gold tones, wood patterned paper, and dark  accents are symbolic of how long we've been together and the strong bond we have, so I like it! And, I love how beautifully the stamped sentiments blend with the designs on the MME paper.
