Happy Birthday, SONshine!

Today is my youngest son's birthday! And I can hardly believe that he is 11!!! I want him to be 5 forever! So sweet and cute with a huge personality! My goodness, I'm so proud of him for the young man that he is becoming! He's such a smart and wise beyond his years young man- so practical and old- man like with his sensibility but still my baby with his little chubby cheeks and innocence! Oh, so of course I had to make him a little card! I found some pretty fun challenges to to inspire this card!

Supplies: Sketch: Friday Sketch Challenge; Digi Image: Saturated Canary-Give Big; Patterned Paper: Crate Paper- Toy Box; Stamps: Docerela Creations- Make Your Calendar (numbers), Smash*it (stars); Studio Calico; Twine- Divine Twine; Ink: Copics, Prima; Glitter Star: from my stash
First I was inspired by the current challenge at Saturated Canary Challenge Blog which is to create a card based on a song! And immediately after I looked through my Saturated Canary digital images I knew I wanted to use it and Rod Stewart's "Forever Young" to inspire the birthday card! I chose the youthful little guy and also this nostalgic  Crate Paper-Toy Box papers to create a card that resonated youth!  The first part of the song  "Forever Young"  is exactly what I want to tell my son as he grows into a young man, so it is the inside of the card:

May the good lord be with you
Down every road you roam
And may sunshine and happiness
Surround you when you're far from home
And may you grow to be proud
Dignified and true
And do unto others
As you'd have done to you
Be courageous and be brave
And in my heart you'll always stay
Forever young, forever young
Forever young, forever young

Then I found this great sketch at Friday Sketch Challenge:

Added those challenges together and created a fun and bright card for my 11 Year Old!
I simply adore this boy and want him to remain a baby, but I know I must let him grow (and let's face it, I can't stop it), so may as well focus on the awesome young man that he IS as opposed to dwelling on the sweet baby that he WAS! So, I hope you all have an awesome January 8th! I know January 8, 2002 was one of the greatest days and  blessings of my life!
